Institute of Neurology continues the best tradition established by pioneer work of Dr Laze Lazarević, , father of the modern Serbian neurology. Since its establishment in 1923, the Institute has succeeded to maintain its primary role among the national institutions in the field of neurology as well as a place among the leading centers of neurology in the region owing to its continuous professional and technological development.
Institute of Neurology gathers under its roof the most eminent neurologists in Serbia representing at the same time the teaching base for students, residents at the Department of Neurology and other branches having in their curricula advanced training in neurology, being at the same time the center of the scientific research in the field of clinical and experimental neurology.
Professional medical teams of the Institute of Neurology actively participate in work of numerous expert groups in certain fields of neurology and particular attention is paid to advanced training of young professionals and scientists working at the Institute in most renowned foreign centers. Institute of Neurology organizes and participates in continuous education courses in the field of neurology, frequently being the host to the most acclaimed foreign lecturers. The former enables maintaining and constant improving of the level of professional skills of our neurologists and paves the way of the Serbian neurology to become a part of international neurological community.
Institute of Neurology is technically equipped for performing of highly specialized diagnostic procedures (immunological and genetic analyses, neurophysiological and neuroradiological diagnostic procedures), thus dictating the pace and trends of technological development to other neurological institutions in the country. The Institute was the first to accept modern achievements in the filed of informatics and implement InfoMedis information system in its work, which led to multiple increase of efficacy of routine clinical work of physicians and enabled at the same time higher quality in performing scientific and educational activities.
